Bedford YMCA

Bedford YMCA DGC

Location: Bedford, Virginia

Status: Open

Bedford YMCA is an 18-hole disc golf course located behind the Bedford Area Family YMCA in Bedford, Virginia. Established in 2012 and designed by Vince Whorley, the course primarily plays through wooded terrain with a mix of technical fairways and a handful of more open shots. Most holes are under 300 feet, making the course accessible to beginners while still requiring accuracy through the trees.

The course features gravel tee pads bordered by wooden timbers and DGA baskets. The layout takes advantage of the natural woods behind the YMCA and offers a variety of short technical holes that reward controlled shot placement over distance.

Over the years, Bedford YMCA has developed a reputation as one of the lesser-known courses in the Bedford area. While nearby courses such as Falling Creek Park, Independence Park, Moneta Park, and New London Tech receive most of the attention, Bedford YMCA remains a playable option for local players looking for a shorter and less demanding round.

Player reviews frequently mention maintenance and navigation as the course's biggest challenges. Overgrown fairways, difficult transitions between holes, aging tee pads, and outdated signage have been recurring concerns. Some of the posted pars and course information no longer reflect the layout currently used by players. Despite these issues, many golfers believe the course has good bones and could be significantly improved with regular maintenance, updated signage, and clearer navigation.
